Seeking FW-190 Lost 7-7-44 in France

All:

I'm looking to track down the Luftwaffe half of a fatal mid-air collision during a dogfight on 7 July 1944 between two flights of P-47s from the 368th FG (one from the 396th FS and one from the 397th FS).

The flight from the 395th FS was bounced by three FW-190s, one of which was seen to collide head on with one of the 397th FS P-47s.

The American airman killed was Capt. Eugene Potter of the 397th FS. He had flown with one of the Eagle Squadrons prior to flying with the 397th FS.

The collision took place near Campeaux, near the main road between St. Lo and Vire. MACR #6645 describes this action.

As always, thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,
Paul
