Serbian Air Force Memorial
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
In regard to my previous announcement concerning the publishing of this book in December 2014, I extend my apologies to all of you for both objective and subjective reasons that caused procrastination of this book’s publishing. With great pleasure I’m informing you that “Serbian Air Force Memorial” book has finally been published by Leadensky Books. Hard cover, A4 format, 204 pages, Serbian/English text and photo captions, six color profiles (back cover page) and 342 b/w photos, most of them never published before. Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Thanks Sergio, lot of work involved there. Unpublished manuscript of Col Tomic was lost for 53 years.
Cheers Aleks |
Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Just finished going through it. I can recommend it to anyone interested in this subject, especially since there are many previously unpublished photos.
Nice work Nenad, Ognjan and Alex :) Boris |
Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Aleks has, together with Ognjan Petrovic, again produced a very interesting book about a very little known (by me) subject.
In my opinion the book's great strength is with the photos which covers the time fram 1911-1941, and while the text is interesting, it basically deals only with the period up to the end of WW 1. This has its limits due to the text being mostly a memoir in disguise. Its main drawback of course is that you want to know much, much more about the period 1919-1941. It should of course also be remembered that Boris Ciglic published his excellent Wings of Serbia, dealing with the period 1912-20 back in 2009 and I find Aleks book an excellent complement indeed. I can fully recommend anyone interested to buy it! (And also talk to Boris and try to get his book as well!) Now having said that, when do we get the next story about the time I am most interesting in, 1919/20 to 1941? ;) A combination of talents perhaps?? :) Cheers Stig |
Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Many thanks Guys
I want to believe that 1919-1941 VVKJ period will be published sooner than we expected. I also hope that it will be done with “combination of talents” or in some other way. Best Regards Aleks |
Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Obviously, the book about Royal Yugoslav Air Force appeared in Serbia in 2012, and sold out. Maybe here You can by it:
http://ng2.sone.ovh/spletna-prodaja/...ile-1918-1944/ The book had about 650 pages with hundreds of photos, list of all units and their commanders as well as short chapters about Serbian Aviation and Aviation of National Councils as their predecessors. kind regards Newcomer |
Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
I tried to order the aforementioned book, but it only lists delivery to Slovenia. Nevertheless, hopefully they will accept my order.

Re: Serbian Air Force Memorial
Hi there Newcomer,
You’ve obviously missed the subject. Mr. Stig Jarlevik was inquiring when the publication in the English language would be available, as he cannot read one in Serbian. If I missed the point of your ambiguous reply, please let me know. Kind Regards Aleks |
