Two downed B-26s 5 Nov 1944 Brenner Pass
The 441st B.S. 320th B.G. lost two B-26s on 5 Nov 1944 over Brenner Pass. Was JG 77 involved in this attack? References state 8 Bf109s, 2 FW 190s, and two C.202s against the 18 B-26s. If JG 77 was involved which pilot or pilots claimed the kills?

Re: Two downed B-26s 5 Nov 1944 Brenner Pass
II./JG 77 was long gone from Italy by November 1944, the aircraft involved were Bf 109s of the Iˆ Gruppo Caccia of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana.
It's difficult to attribute the victories with certainty but claims were made by Serg.Magg. Pacini (3ª Sq.), Cap. Bellagambi, Serg.Magg. Cavagliano, Serg.Magg. Baldi and Ten. Camaioni. (Source: Air War Italy 1944–45 by Beale, D'Amico & Valentini) |
