Hptm. Max Graf Hoyos 8./ZG76

Good afternoon -
Can anybody throw more light on this Lw casualty -

Missing in action 12 August 1940 :

Hptm. Max Graf Hoyos (believed lost over channel ?)
Bf110 8./ZG76 2N+AN

I am particularly interested to find out if this crewman was washed up along the coast and buried in UK & if so where ?

I have no other detail about this pilot and would therefore welcome
any supporting information or even a photo of him ..........
Many thanks

12 August 1940 8./ZG76 Messerschmitt Bf110C-2. Shot down in combat with fighters and crashed in sea off Portland 12.30 p.m. FF Hptmn Max Graf Hoyos (Staffelkapitän) and BF Uffz Siegfried Krommes both killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

As Nick has already made clear, the body of Max Graf HOYOS was not recovered by the British but buried in France. His loss is briefly covered in Zerstorer by Vasco/Cornwell (1995). He was a veteran of the war in Spain, having flown bombers with K/88 and was one of only 27 officers in the entire Luftwaffe to have been awarded the Spanish Cross in Gold with Diamonds. His personal account of the fighting in Spain Pedros Y Pablos (from which the attached photo is taken) was published by Verlag F. Bruckmann in 1939 and copies can still be found through specialist booksellers.
