A Jagdstaffel pilot in France Feb. 10, 1944
 

Hello!
I am searching for a fighter pilot, Gefreiter Johann Georg Kilgus, who fell in combat on february 10. 1944 in France.
I am looking for the circumstances, aircraft and codes, if possible.
I have a picture of the pilot, if anyone would like a scan.

1944-02-10, JG 105, NAA 57, Serial no 67, code 53, Bei Chateauroux, Jägerbeschuss. Bruch 100 %.
FF Johann Kilgus, * 1922-03-15, Grab Champigny-St.André/Frankreich, Block 6, Grab 672

Hi
F/O D. McGibbon of 266Sq flying Typhoon JP512, claimed three a/c of this type shot down on 10 Feb 44.
F/L Cassie of 193Sq attacked a formation of this type also.
If you are interested I have a group photo of the RAF pilots by a typhoon after the mission of this day, ( includes F/O McGibbon & F/L Cassie ), and a copy of a combat report that might interest you, not sure if it refers to this particular NAA 57.
I would be very interested in a scan of the photo of Gefreiter Johann Georg Kilgus.

It seems that, they had time to appriciate the damages, 4 NAA57 hs been damaged/lost 2+2 that day, all in Versailles area western part

Just to complete the above posts.

JG 105 was not a frontline fighter unit but an operationnal training unit (like all JG between 101 and 112), that is the last step in training before going to frontline units.

These units used a mixture of outdated fighters of German, French and Italian origin and of advanced training aircraft. The NAA 57 in which your man was lost was of the second category. It was a version of the American well-known trainer T-6 Texan (story and picture here: http://ajbs.com/Anglais/MuseeGB/T-6-...History-UK.htm).

Even if operationnal training units may send fighters against enemy raids in their area, usually flown by the instructors and most advanced trainees, most of the losses they suffered to enemy action were during training flights that were attacked by marauding Allied aircraft, like the Typhoon mentionned above. These attacks became so costly that in spring 1944 most of these units retired from France, where most of them were based, to Germany.

At the time of the above loss, JG 105 was based on the airfields of Chartres and Bourges, both SW of Paris.

Now having read all this highly fascinating informations, I would like to ask, if there is anyone, who knows the colorschemes of NAA 57's from JG 105.
I would like to build a model of the plane mentioned.
