No doubt a relation of Heinrich Graf Einsiedel, another controversial Luftwaffe personality.

This is an interesting topic

First of all, how can anyone be executed for cowardice on the Western Front at this time? Basically there is no war going in France and the only ¨problem¨the Germans had in the occupied zone of France was with the resistance.

For anyone to be executed, which is the ultimate punishment, and can't have been common in France before the Allied invasion, must to my mind have been for something else than cowardice, and should rather have been for some serious crime, such as murder or co-operation with the enemy (resistance).

Looking at Johann-Georg von Einsiedel or Graf von Einsiedel on the Net, there is no one with such a name and relevant dates, so it looks like the family, for what ever reasons, still today don't want his name to be trackable.

Postwar, co-operation with the enemy and opposing the Nazi regime would in my mind be something rather appealing and not something the family would need/want to hide away, so murder or something similar which ment capital punishment feels more likely.

So just like Daniel, I am curious for what reason this execution was made.

Hi Stig,

The familytree from v. Einiedel is a big, and " Georg is not a close part to the family from Heinrich. Here he is :

Thank you Lilsis

Unfortunately the actual connection made gives no further clue as to how and why von Einsiedel was killed.

Since my German is not god enough I am not able to trace this any further on the site in question. Anyone else?

Hello, all

In order to get confirmation on this, the relevant source would be the BA Militärarchiv, where they should have his personnel record and the papers from the war tribunal (Kriegsgericht).

The VDK have him listed as being buried at Champigny-St-Andre, Block 14 Row 28 Grave 1624, they may have further information.
