Furies et Crocodiles : Morane au combat dans la Bataille de France.

Hi,

I wonder whether this book on GC III/7 will be the book of the year ?

The author has gathered many years old of researches and at last published a master book on this unit.

I just browsed it and found many new info and photographs with solid captions for a book which certainly could be THE reference.

Bonjour,

Thanks for this very nice message.

The book is full of photos : 260 photos (230 unpublished). Among these photos there are very rare photos taken by mechanics of the french group III/7 during may and june 1940.

Regards.

Salut Rémi

excellent travail!

a French fighter unit history of a groupe de chasse that "finished in the bottom half of the table" to quote a phrase from the Foreword. Superb selection of nice clear photos and artworks, reproduced large on thick glossy paper, plenty of first person accounts, my sort of book! Be aware though, card covers...

Furies et Crocodiles : Morane au combat dans la Bataille de France.

Bonjour,
Thanks for this nice message.
As written the book is full of new unpublished photos of Morane 406 and Dewoitine 520. All (but one or two) of the 13 or 14 Morane 406 wearing the insignia of the "Furie" are in the book. It is also the first time that are published photos of Morane wearing the unknown insignia of the "crocodile".

For almost all of these planes, you can find multiple photos of the same plane (often both side). So it is perfect for modelers.

It is also a true day by day account of the history of this unit. Testimonies of pilots and mechanics highlight each combat, accident or event. And for the people who are interested there is a complete list of the around 100 Morane "used" by the group with their true end (very different for a lot of them from the previously published material).
Regards.

Rémi
