Heinkel 111J with 4-blade propellers

Hi All

Back in 1974 (in Air Pictorial) Ferenc Kovac sent an ID request regarding a Heinkel 111J that carried two four-blade propellers.

The photo is not very good and just shows the front of the aircraft. The details known by Mr Kovacs in 1974 is listed within the attachment
Attachment 12140

Back in 2002 the same photo was used by George Punka in He 111 in action Sq Signal no 184, but with far less details.

Some further details have appeared, such as there was an International aviation meeting (Intern. Fliegertreffen) in Hungary (Budapest) from 7. — 14.8.1938. The 3. Reich was there with 13 aircraft (5 from the Luftwaffe, 2 from the NSFK., 1 from the German Aero-Club, while all the others were privately owned) [Source "Flugsport" at http://www.luftfahrt-bibliothek.de]
No evidence this He 111J had anything to do with this meeting though...

Since it is the only He 111 I have seen with four-blade props I wonder if it is possible to identify it by now?
Does the stated registration D-ARKO mean anything to anyone?

Cheers
Stig

Wonder if it could have something to do with the visit made by Hansa Luftbild / Rowehl to Budapest in 1938? Could the four bladed propeller be a modification for improved high altitude performance? - just pure speculations on my behalf, but an interesting photo.

Turkish AF recieved He 111 J´s via Sofia in early 1938
but might be unrelated to this (?)

I have a D-ARCO mentioned in a diplomatic note: Appeal of the Czech government to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Flying over the German-Czech border

Answer of the Min. of Foreign Affairs to the RLM from 10. August 1938: The aircraft D-ARCO [no type mentioned] of the Hansa-Luftbild GmbH flew on a special mission early on 6. August 1938 from the river Neisse to the Cerman-Czech border near Troppau-Jägerndorf, altitude 6000-8000 m

D-ARCO could be one of the 3 He 111 (W-Nr. 2358-2360) that were in rebuilt for the Hansa-Luftbild in 1937/1938.

Peter

Thanks Guys

Really appreciate your efforts.

Peter
WNr 2358-2360 would make the aircraft into a He 111F. Is it possible to verify from what is visible if that is the correct sub-type?

Rémi
From your answer it seems you dont agree it is a J-model. What do you think it looks like?

Mike
Guessed so. Olrog is not exactly in every phone directory...:)

The radio mast is loacted at this aircraft just aft of the canopy.

This was the fact at the military aircraft of the B, D, E-1 and F-1 versions. At all later models including the He111J the radio mast was located at the center fuselage.

Unfortunately the photo is so blurred that no further details are visible.
