2/KGr 100 Taxying Accident Norway 1940
I have 3 photos which show tail damage to one aircraft and wingtip damage to 6N+KK. Photo was taken in Norway in May-June 1940-can anyone give me a possible date?

Hi Chris,
I have several possible candidates for KG 100: 03-May-40 two He 111 damaged 40% at Trondheim. 05-May-44 He 111 100% 15km north of Narvik. 24-May-40 He 111 100% Mo. 28-May-40 2 He 111 at Narvik 40% and 30%. Nothing for June 1940. Regards, Norbert |

In the new Jean-Louis Roba book on KG 100 he refers to one He 111 being stood on its nose when landing on 3 May, with damage to the nose and airscrews (pilot, Ofw. Paul Wierbitzki). A second machine "doit se poser en catastrophe" (had to make an emergency landing, I guess) and appears to have been struck off charge.
You might get something in Ultra (TNA HW5/1). There is some stuff there from Scandinavia but I haven't looked at it yet. |

Thanks Nick. The 'nose' incident accords with Hilmar Schmidt's diary entry for the day and damage from what I can see was slight, not 40%. If the other was SOC, surely this would have been 90%. The photos clearly show damaged tail and wingtip from a ground collision
