commanders of 10 staffel JG54
 

Did Oberleutnant Paul-Rudolf Deterra succeed Robert Weiss as commander of 10 staffel JG54? I know Weiss left the staffel at a date in May 1944 to join the stab staffel of III Gruppe, JG54. I thought it may have been Horst Hartrampf but I think he led 14 staffel at his death in August 1944.

To your question, my information from Rudolf Sinner indicates Paul-Rudolf Deterra served as Stkp. 10./JG 54 (IV. Gruppe) from at least 12.11.43 until his death in action on 16.08.44. His loss is documented by a NVLM.

Thanks RA, I have Deterra with 10 staffel in September-November 1943 (making a claim for a Soviet aircraft on 18.11.1943) and then making victory claims with 11 staffel in January 1944, but back with 10 staffel in late February 1944, possibly as leader. I have since received information from another source that shows Deterra did command for a period in September but was attached to Stab.IV/JG54 in November 1943 and then took command of 10 staffel on 27 February 1944. I think he was temporary leader of 10 staffel until Weiss arrived.
