He 111 H RN+GW
The above aircraft was from E-Stelle Rechlin and attached to KGr100 for Y Verfahren testing. Does anyone have a date for this or more details on the aircraft itself?

Re: He 111 H RN+GW
Your best chance of an answer is to contact Christoph Regel. He's an infrequent visitor to these pages so I would recommend a PM. Member details - Chr.Regel.

Re: He 111 H RN+GW
Wn is most probably 3599 an H-5, Produced by EHF, first flown around aug./Sept. 40 is sister "ship" RN+GV flew at E.Stelle Tarnewitz at the same time grossly,
3599 has been lost as 2B+XB on 12.Juni 44, with Eins.Gr. 2.fl.schuldiv. Is time to E.Stelle Rechlin is not known...to me Rémi |
Re: He 111 H RN+GW
I do not have the Werk-Nr. of this aircraft, but it was a H-5 (as Volker Koos confirmed to me some years ago). In my files I can only find two flights of this aircraft:
on 5. October 1940 from Rechlin to Théville (ferry flight, Flugbuch Dieminger) and on 6. October 1940 at Théville "UKW-Messflug" (FB Dieminger) Dieminiger was Section Leader at Abteilung (department) F of E'Stelle Rechlin, which was deeply involved in the development and testing of X- and Y-Verfahren. Interestingly there were several more 111's of this series at Rechlin and all were exclusively used for testing at Abteilung F: RN+GO test flights (UKW-Messflug) between 5. Sept. and 10. Oct. 1940 (ferried to Cherbourg that day) RN+GP test flight (UKW-Messflug) at Rechlin 18. Sept. 1940 RN+GQ test flights (UKW-Messflug) at Rechlin on 14. Sept. and 8. Oct. RN+GR test flights (UKW-Messflug) at Rechlin on 21./22. Sept. 1940 Could it be these aircraft were finally tested (or equipped/completed) at Rechlin prior to being ferried to a front unit (KGr 100 ??) ? Christoph |
Re: He 111 H RN+GW
Thanks Christoph; most interesting and helpful. The unit that would have got Y Verfähren was III/KG 26 but KGr 100 had the most experience in blind bombing due to X Gerät

Re: He 111 H RN+GW
An He 111, RN+GW, is mentioned in flightlog Loose. Machine belonged to III./KBS 1 from April-June 1943.

Re: He 111 H RN+GW
Seen in passing.
In case this should still be relevant. RN+GP was WNr.3592. This EHF H-5 Stkz. sequence ran from 3577 to 3600 covering RN+GA to +GX. [RN+GY & +GZ were Bf 109 F-2 WNr. 5684 & 5685 from Mtt-R.] |
Re: He 111 H RN+GW
He 111 H-5 Wnr 3599 RN+GW. October 1941 at Rechlin.

Re: He 111 H RN+GW
Thank you, ju55dk. One more useful corroboration of the Stkz. sequence, and right on the money too.
