2 x ME 323 shot down outside Sardinia and on the island of La Maddalena - 26.07.43
 

Dear members.

Does anybody have the loss list for the crew and crew members of the two ME 323 (3./TG 5) that was lost on 26.07.1943?
One went down on the island of La Maddalena and the other one in the sea outside Sardinia.

Also interested in info about the two crew members of the Beaufighter that was shot down. Navigator perished and pilot captured.

I have written about this and this has come up already on 12 OCH. Beaufighters were from 144 Sqn led by Sqn Ldr Bill Gracey. Me 323s were from I/TG 5. Wk Nr 1267 C8+DG (Fw Karallus) crashed east of Caprera. Of a crew of 9 and 25 passengers, 3 crew were killed and remainder rescued wounded whilst only one passenger survived. Shot down by Sgt J M Murray and Sgt J P Fletcher. Wk Nr 1270 C8+EG (Ofw Heinrich Boge) was shot down by Flt Sgt D Hamar and Plt Off J W King at Garbaldi. 5 crew killed, 4 wounded and of the 47 pax, 39 were believed to have been killed. King's Beaufighter was the one shot down

Maybe not the right place, but at least thread attract attention of Me 323 'Fans', nd probably time prob. correspond to loss discussed here
So the story; a wreck of an Me 323 has been found in Corsica near Ersa , 8 km north, sometime around mid 44, while searching for an Bf 109 crashed on April 44, is there any clues so far for that one ???
