Identity of Luftwaffe RK holder sought!

Hi Guy's,

It has been a while since I was last active on the forum, this mostly due to work! As my eyes are getting worse and I know little about RK holders of the Luftwaffe I thought I would ask those who might know!

Attached image came from the photo album of Fritz Schlichting 1.(F)123, the photo shows himself with his observer Karl Ischinger in the company of this RK holder, can anyone identify him please?

Kind regards,

Melvin

Melvin,
I am no expert too, but while looking at the Picture carefully one note two interesting things:
a) The RK-Träger seems to have the EL (Eichenlaub) isn't it? If so, we do have two possible candidates:
1- Hauptmann Erwin Fischer (I do not know if he actually flew over Spain to have been awarded the Spanish Cross with Swords as depicted on the Picture)
2 - Major Emil Badorrek (whose face does not match too much that of your RK-träger, on your Picture).
b) Your man seems to have been awarded the RECON Flying Clasp mission (as both of other F123 airmen are wearing too).

IF he is only wearing the RK (and not the EL as my eyes may have seen wrongly), a possible candidate (from F123) would be:
a) Hptm Haldemar Felgenhauer who wears the Spanish Cross

Humbly yours,
Adriano

Hi Guy's,

Thank you all for your thoughts so far, I don't think it is Baumbach or Felgenhauer, please see attached photos showing Karl Rueck with his friend Felgenhauer after Karl completed 100 war flights. Felgenhauer's nose is more defined than the original unidentified RK holder.

Cheers,

Melvin

Melvin,

I would agree with Fredo that the man in the middle in the photo in your post No.6 is Walter Oesau.

However, I do not think that Walter Oesau is the man you were looking for in your post No.1.

Sinisa

In fact, I answerd Walter Oesau when I saw the first picture... The second has only confirmed.
It is true that is hardly to recognize Oesau because he ....smiled!
and the photos with Oesau smiling are rare!
Best regards
Fredo
