Remains of '44 crashed Soviet ftr found in Poland
These are the remains of a Soviet fighter probably IL-2 which crashed in 1944 on Vistula, which flows 1,047 kilometers frm Beskidy Mountains to the Baltic Sea. Was found on Sunday near the Bzura River, near the village of Kamion in central Poland. The pieces have been moved to a nearby Museum for examination, with more recovery work planned for next Saturday. Remains of the pilot's , his uniform ,sheep skin jacket ,chute , boots , personal weapon and lots of amo were also found. At first sight is hard to agree this was an IL-2 maybe an other type
To the Polish members : are there any more photos and details available ? |

Pe-2 - 100%
interesting "dig up" a report on Russian Central television http://www.1tv.ru/news/world/290898 or http://novostivideo.ru/video/2440547 May know the number of the engine? On this motor so many places where it has been staged (base bottom, grounds in the upper part of the cylinder, the joints of carburetors, pistons, aluminium rings on the gear reducer, bakelite magneto cover and more)... Fragments of many - should be the number of the plane... regards, Kirill |
