Why no 1969 'Battle of Britain' film redux?

I was very surprised there has been no redux version of the outstanding 1969 Battle of Britain film, to be shown at cinemas and released on DVD for the 75th anniversary of the battle.

The print could have been cleaned up, theme music tweaked, CGI tracer rounds etc added.

Anyone know why not?

A great opportunity missed.

I don't think the film made much money the first time around, so that may be a factor.

Nick is right, and, today's movie goers are not that interested in history, especially the Millennials, the target audience of Hollywood. History is not taught, per se, in our schools, and certainly not accurately. In our NC schools, history of the US starts with the Constitutional Convention in 1789. Gee, wonder how we got there? To young people in the US, history is, to quote, "That's so yesterday".

Dear All,

In 4th grade, about 1949, I was lucky enough to have a unit on aviation history. But, when I got to the end, I was keenly disappointed, wondering "Where are the jets"?

Regards,
Richard
