Bf 109G-4 StKz block NA+C*

Bf 109G-4 Werknummern 19427 to 19452 are commonly (Prien et al.)connected with StKz block NA+C*.
Luftarchiv´s StKz collection notes some double entries in this block listing Ar 66, Fw 58, Bf 108 and Do 17Zs so I regard this Bf 109G-4 block as rather doubtful.
Looking at Markhoff´s (8./JG 52) crashed "Black 10" and Grislawskis (7./JG 52) "White 9" the first letters appear to me as NQ+??.
A StKz block NQ+O* for Bf 109G-4s cannot be located so could this be the correct designation for the aforementioned WNr block?
What´s your opinion?

We have many NQ+B* and NQ+D* which are Bf 109G-6s, lost from February 1944 onward, but nothing with NQ+C*

Roland,

If this can help you, the Bf109G-4, WNr.19445 is given as NA+OS in Gogh Stkz list... No source given.
As for "Weisse 10" cannot read ... But I have it as 19249. If it's right then doesn't enter in the batch you're looking for!

BR, Franck.

Re: Bf 109G-4 StKz block NA+C*

Markhoff´s "Black 10" WNr. 19446 shows on the right wing lower surface clearly the two letters "N+Q"; Grislawski´s "White 9" WNr. 19452 shows on the left fuselage side the letter "N" in front of the figure, as second (overpainted with "white 9") letter "A" does NOT fit, "Q" would fit well, the third letter (partly overpainted with yellow fuselage band) can only be "C, G, O or Q".
I know WNr 19445 as NA+OS, too.
"S" would fit, "N" as 1st is certainly correct, so my educated guess was "Q" as 2nd (photographical evidence for WNr 19446 and 19452) and "O" is most plausible.
WNr 19445 would then be NQ+OS, which is almost identical to NA+OS.

Rolans,

your analysis seems to be correct, the Bf 109G-4 Werknummern 19427 to 19452 were manufactured by WNF during March 1943. The NQ+OJ was ferried from Wiener Neustadt to Wevelghem on 19.03.43, the repaired NQ+OW was taken over by JG 103 on 19.03.44 and lost on 6.04.44 as WNr. 19449.

Thank you, Merlin

for confirming my theory. So Werknummerblock 19427 to 19452 NA+C* is in fact NQ+O*.
No double entries for NA+C* exist and the existing StKz entries are correct.

Hi

NQ+DA is said to be 161743 so if correct your conclusion is incorrect

I was talking of a possible NQ+OA to NQ+OZ block instead of NA+C*, the NQ+D* block was never discussed by me.

Re: Bf 109G-4 StKz block NA+C*

GRMorrison was quoting blocks NQ+B* (WNr 161718 to 161743 according to Schmoll) and NQ+D* (WNr 161744 to 161769), but those were produced from March to May '44 by Messerschmitt Regensburg (in fact by Mtt Obertraubling or by Waldwerk "Gauting" - Hagelstadt) and thus beyond the timeframe I was looking for.
Additionally letters "B" and "D" do not fit in what is visible from the overpainted StKz of Grislawski´s "White 9" WNr 19452.

Roland
