"The Most Dangerous Moment of the War": Japan's Attack on the Indian Ocean, 1942
Is this truly little known? Scheduled for November.

Not really a secret: Michael Tomlinson's 1976 book The Most Dangerous Moment: The Japanese Assault on Ceylon, 1942 told the story. I suppose the need for the 'Churchill quote' about the danger was too tempting to resist, despite having been used as the title by Tomlinson.

I agree. This was certainly not "the most dangerous moment of the war" even in the CBI theater. Typical publisher over hype.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the insight.

I will be interested to hear from anyone who reads the book (specifically anyone who has read both books). It is an important time in the history of the war, and it did rattle Churchill at a time when he had serious problems at home keeping control and negotiating with the USA: lots of potential for new analysis so hopefully the book addresses this.
Fingers crossed, Bruce |
