Spitfire main wheel?
 

I'm fairly sure this is a Spitfire main wheel but can others confirm?

Larger than Spit, I think. Tyre similar to Locheed P-38 Lightning, and the narrow (hollow) blade says likely Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. -Ed

This I get trying add an k to Lockheed. Maybe I just use Loughead in the future.

It sure looks like a P-47D tire, according to the model.

Any fighter wheel experts out there?

Definitely not Spitfire. Too many spokes and tread is wrong. P-47 is possible.

hollow blade + tyre = P-47

Hello ,

If i'm not wrong this photo came out off a book by the late Ron Putz off Holland, this was a crash of a P-47.

ed, not everyone can do Umlauts :)

And yes, it was a P-47. I have an identical prop blade in my garage.
