Re: me 262 on eBay
Hi Franck,
Nice Find! Thank you! These photos from 1964 show the result of a Me 262 A-1/U3 being given a fighter nose in the 1940's, perhaps by the Hughes Aircraft Company. The added nose is quite distinctive in these new photos. Curiously, this source gives the Me 262 A-1a as "White 25" "Connie...": http://indianamilitary.org/FreemanAAF/Aircraft%20-%20German/FE%204012-Me262A1U3/4012.htm while this one gives it as "White 30" "Marge": http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazin...tail_me262.htm best regards, Jim Geens |

ex "white 25" III./EJG 2, found at Lechfeld a/f, built by Messerschmitt Obertraubling as A-1a, re-built as recce A-1a/U3 by FW Eger.

Re: me 262 on eBay
It is now 98% fully restored to airworthy, and is about 6 months from flying with her original Jumo engines...

Re: me 262 on eBay
...and I bet they didn´t have the courage to re-apply the recce-nose.

For a collection that states authenticity is paramount, I also doubt that a recon nose is going to be fitted. |
Re: me 262 on eBay
Is that nose still available? I thought it was swapped back in the late 40's for the one on the 262 in the NASM collection. I remember seeing it before the rebuild, complete with fairings.
