Smith and Creek say it was 30 September 1944. 240102 and 240103 made first flights on that day. Hans Dieterle transferred both aircraft from Mengen to Oberpfaffenhofen. Both aircraft made their second flight on 11 October 1944. 102 went to Rechlin on 20 November 1944.

Regnat states the first fight is unclear, but flight testing of 240102 began on 30 September 1944. The first official mention of the aircraft is on 20 November 1944, assigned to Department E4 for radio signals technology.

Smith and Creek say that production for both aircraft (102 and 103) occurred at Mengen. Here is the history:

1) W.Nr. 240101 VG+PG was destroyed in a bombing raid on the Lowenthal plant in Friedrichshafen on 20 July, 1944. The assembly halls and workshops were heavily damaged and this forced the transfer of production to Mengen.

2) W.Nr. 240102 VH+PH and W.Nr. 240103 VG+PI were completed at Mengen.

3) "The first Do-335 to be build at Oberpfaffenhofen was the A-0, W.Nr. 240104, VH+PJ."

To be exact, it was "Abteilung Musterbau" of Dornier Flugzeugwerke Friedrichshafen at Mengen-Hohentengen airfield, which was installed there for testing purposes since 1940. Mengen was captured by French Forces on 22 April 1945; that´s why several examples of the Do 335 found their way to French testing sites
