Spitfire MJ852 350 Sqn 1944
 

Dear all,

Spitfire MJ852 350 squadron (pilot. Hedley Joseph "Snooks" Everard )where shot down by Me109. He bailed out over Venlo Holland on december 25th 1944and became POW.
Question. Who can tell me the exact crashsite of the plane ?
and the place where S/ldr. Everard was captured.

His story of the crash, becoming a POW and getting caught up with the Russians is in his book entitled "A Mouse in My Pocket" published 1988.

Flew into debris of Bf109 shot down by a fellow pilot. Bailed out South of Venlo.

I believe Everard was CO of 401 Sqn. RCAF at the time. Spitfire IX MJ852 was coded YO-S. (Ref. 2nd TAF, Vol.2, pg.367.

Crash site probably not on Dutch soil after all, but just inside Germany.... Sptfire MJ852 somehow doesn't figure on the SGLO register for 1944.
