C-47 claimed by Altnorthoff 4.4.45

Hi all,

Does anyone know the identity of the C-47 claimed by Hptm. Ernst-Georg Altnorthoff on 4.4.45? Was it a legitimate victory tied to an allied loss or just an overclaim?

Nick,

There is a C-47 listed as being lost the next day to fighters, which may well be Altnorthofs. I don't have a unit for it. The 2 claimed by II JG 27 on the 9th they got as well. There is a MACR for one which notes the other crash landed.

Many thanks. Are you able to share details of the C-47s claimed by Koal and Stenglein near Langensalza on the 9th of April?

Very intrigued to know about the losses connected to these claims because C-47 cargo aircraft being shot down at a stage when the allies so patently had air supremacy just sounds incongruous.
