Bf109E crash landing 7/JG3.

Hi, I've recently obtained two scans of Messerschmitt Bf109E which crash landed in France 1940.
The a/c is coded white 4+I of 7/JG3 and appears to have a yellow nose and rudder. Subsequent investigation leads to this a/c having come down at
Rinxent, in the Nord Pas- de -Calais area possibly late summer - autumn 1940.
Would anybody happen to have a date or name for this incident.
Best regs,
Steve.

I have photos of a white 13 from 1/JG 3 which have been similarly hard to tie down. As to yours, there are a number reported as crash-landing at Desvres which seems to be quite close to Rinxent but no codes to tie it in

Hi Chris, yes I consulted Prien's books for JG3 for this period and noticed a number of forced landings at Desvres. As you say it is difficult trying to tie specific incidents without codes listed in these publications.
I have scans of a white 13+ also from 1/JG3 without any location.
So close but yet so far!
Thanks Chris.
Steve.

Re: Bf109E crash landing 7/JG3.

The shots I have of white 13 show it from the starboard side minus an engine & then a close up of the bent back guns. These photos are stuck in a photo album from a I/JG 3 groundcrew man which I have had for years so wonder if more than one copy was made

Chris my photo shows evidently the same starboard side view, no engine or prop assembly visible, fuselage sides appear heavily mottled.
A/c pictured in a field with trees in the distance.
Quite possibly a copy of the original.
Best regs,
Steve.

Steve,

Does you photo show the tail of the a/c? I think that this was taken of a crash at Grandvilliers, France, on July 4, 1940. Best candidate for incident that I could come up with.

Re: Bf109E crash landing 7/JG3.

Hi Larry, which a/c do you refer to?
White 13+ of 1/JG3, or from my original post asking after white 4+I 7/JG3.

Best regs,
Steve.

I believe it is the white 13 photo

Re: Bf109E crash landing 7/JG3.

Chris/Larry, my photo shows white 13+ from the starboard side just forward from the fuselage cross. Doesn't show the tail!
Best regs,
Steve.

Re: Bf109E crash landing 7/JG3.

Steve,

Thanx. This is the same photo that Chris has, which he provided to me some time ago. His two are the only ones that I know of for this crash, and don't show the tail. If anyone else has other photos of this a/c, I would very much appreciate notification, as this is the subject of one of our EoE color profiles.
