Eberhard von Boremski

Good evening,

what plane was Eberhard von Boremski flying when scoring his kills #89-104 ?

...it must have been with 9./EJG1 in 1945. I know that III./EJG1 had more Bf109's than Fw190 on the roster at the end of 1944. Was the same true at the end of the war ?

Cheers,

Michael

Re: Eberhard von Boremski

...a tally of 104 would make him the highest-scoring aristocrat. But John Weal wrote in 2013 that his final total was 88, all scored in JG3.

Re: Eberhard von Boremski

Boremski was a 'graduate' of my uncle's staffel, 9. JG3, which was a bit of an 'ace's squadron', with several high scorers on the roster. My uncle was with EJG1 in 1945 and according to his Flugbuch he made many flights exclusively with 109G's.

That's interesting. Did he mention something like a "100th kill celebration party" for Boremski?

I don't have any reference to such an event. I'm getting quite sceptical about some of these alleged parties and presentations. I recently saw a video of what purports to be a presentation Walther PP presented to Hans Phillip on his 100th victory. I believe the piece to be an elaborate fake.

Why do you think so ?

Certain aspects of the way the inscription is worded put me off. I'd like to see the provenance on this thing before I accept it as genuine.

Some say unconfirmed kills were included in his total of 206.
But the Wehrmachtsbericht (October 12th, 1943) that annouces his death clearly indicates that total which to me is a kind of confirmation in itself.
