R.F. Aitkin OBE AFC & Walrus 1940
Hi guys
Flt Lt Digger Aitkin was a Walrus flying boat instructor in early 1940, who took it upon himself to fly ASR sorties from Gosport circa July/August in attempts to rescue downed aircrew. Did he actually rescue anyone, friend or foe? Cheers Brian |

Excellent stuff, Col!
It would appear that he and his crew (who?) were responsible for the rescue of 35 RAF and German aircrew in a "few months". I wonder if there is any record of these rescues? Cheers Brian |
