7./KG2 1941 insignia ???
Hi All,
Near us a Defiant caught a Do17z trying to escape from a raid. I'm making some models of this but can't find details of the Dorniers markings It was from 7 KG2 U5+AR shot down by 151 squadron during the night of Feb 4/5 1941 It looks like the defiant is the overall black scheme with red codes this is simple and I have markings for this, the Dorniers codes also look simple with a white A but I dont know anything about the nose art, plus I have also seen stripes across noses If anyone can shed any light on any of this I'd be very thankful Regards Nigel |
Re: 7./KG2 1941 insignia ???
Nigel,
in February 1941 the Dorniers wore night camouflage with all bright areas of the aircraft (underside, the white A, the yellow nose band) had been roughly painted over with black. Furthermore the 7./KG 2 did not had any emblem during 1940/41. |
Re: 7./KG2 1941 insignia ???
Thats great info, are you saying the top and wings are stil RLM 70/71 splinter and the undersides night ?
Is the night a solid colour with the codes and stripes oblitered or is it almost a dark wash with the markings still showing through Regards Nigel |
Re: 7./KG2 1941 insignia ???
By this stage, most were usually painted roughly with a black paint so as to obscure all markings apart from the ac individual code; PM me and I can send you a photo
