Erich Woitke-Deutches Kreuz in Gold?

Does anyone if Hptm Erich Woitke was warded the Deutches Kreuz in Gold?
Supposedly, he was awarded it and then threw it the feet of Hermann Goering?

No record of him having received the DKiG in "Die Träger Des Deutschen Kreuzes In Gold Der Luftwaffe 1941-1945"

Re: Erich Woitke-Deutches Kreuz in Gold?

I looked at the picture of him in Frappe's LW Normandy and he has the Spanish Kreuz. That and an a EK are all the decorations he has.

Of all the characters in the LW, Erich Woitke is one of my favorites. Serving from the Spanish Civil War through the Battle of the Bulge, he exmplified the Luftwaffe that never stopped fighting. Court martialed for a drunken episode, he appears in Johannes Steinhoff's book under the fictitious name "Woitik".
