29-11-43 P-47D 42-8601 1Lt W.Beach
Hello all,
On 29-11-43 1/Lt Warren Beach had to leave his P47-D because of engine-problems .He came down in local area knowned as Krakeelse dijk and became POW. My question is does anybody have clues where his P-47 came down ?. There are no indications[policereport] on dutch soil. So probably Germany ?? Thanks in advance |

Other sources list Hoogeveen, and Krakeel is an eastern district of Hoogeveen.

Hello,
Beach baled out so he came down not with his P-47 but would have been some distance from it. MACR 1451. Alex |

Hello,
Seems he was escorting Bombers from or back to England according to the MACR. Left AAF Station F 369 ? Weather was not good so exact position of loss was not witnessed, East Holland/West Germany in report. See map. Alex |

Hello Alex, udf 00
Thanks both for replying, Krakeel is a Hamlet just outside Hoogeveen it is the place where Beach was landed and arrested. His wingman 2/lt Willliam Brown reported the area of Hoogeveen -Coevorden in Macr 1451 .The P-47 was lost without any trace and never found. Almost a same case in the same area is on 6-3-44 for B24 Roll Call 42-100424 - Both are mentioned in the SGLO list but still not known where planes came down . probably on German soil. |
