JG 53 operations on 8 November 1944
On 8 November 1944 fighter units of Lw.-Kdo. West flew a total of 154 sorties over the West, one of the focal points according to Lagemeldung West of the WFüSt. being the area around Pont-à-Mousson and Château Salins, the area of operations of JG 53. However, according to my information JG 53 was bogged down in mud on its airfields between 4 and 16 November, so which unit apart from NAG 13 was active in this area ? JG 2 was engaged further east around Kaiserslautern on this day and I have no indication that they proceeded as far west as Pont-à-Mousson, Metz, Nancy etc.
Perhaps one of the experts with access to the ULTRA reports can fill me in. KR Jochen Prien |
Re: JG 53 operations on 8 November 1944
I don't seem to have anything, unless it was deciphered after a long delay and I haven't looked at the right files. If you want to check for yourself, then you can view the following files online at the National Archives website: DEFE3/303 (6-8 November), /304 (8-10 November) and /305 (11-13 November). If there was anything, it should have been deciphered within that period, I think.

Many thanks, Nick. Andy Arthy has solved the problem on LRG.
