Ju 87 loss on 16 December 1944
Hello, I have a note without source saying that "On 16 December 1944 the Ju 87 D-5 D3+QH, WNr. 131 371 crashed at Inden, near Düren. Both crew, Fw. Firlus und Uffz. Lücke, bailed out and came back to German lines after eight days on the Allied side of the frontline."
I would like to confirm the above, and add the unit and the full names of the crew. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...ht=NSGR&page=2 shows one Ju 87 D-5 of NSGr 1 lost that day (a 100% loss) but the loss is listed as being during a non-operational flight, without enemy action. Still possible, but as the loss took place in Allied-held country, it was probably operational. Probably the book "Die Einsätze der Nachtschlachtgruppen 1, 2 und 20 an der Westfront von September 1944 bis Kriegsende" has more on this loss, can someone confirm it ? Thanks in advance |
Re: Ju 87 loss on 16 December 1944
The book you mention shows that Ju87 D-5 D3+QH w.n. 131306 1/NSGr.2 was on a mission to area Aachen-Eschweiler on 16/17 Dec. It was hit by enemy Flak and the crew of Fw Firlus and Uffz Lucke baled out behind enemy lines southeast of Inden in area of Pier-Echtz (11km S/E of Julich), returning to their own lines held by the 363 Infanterie-Division on 20th Dec.,

Thanks Brian, many small differences but the story is more or less confirmed, I will try to find the book to learn more.
