F/Sgt. Jackson No. 56 Squadron

I am looking for details on F/Sgt. L.Jackson of No. 56 Squadron who was shot down in his Tempest on 29 december 1944. Does anybody know his first name and service number? And....was he killed in the crash or? Several books have him as killed in action but I cannot find him in the CWWG records.

Thanks,

John

Thanks Dave! That he became a POW matches the initial report of his crash on 29.12.1944. Are there more details known? How old was he and where did he came from?

Not really. Having no middle name and common surname will be a hard man to trace. From his number he enlisted at Padgate between April and November 1941.

You might want to grab any of the four combat reports listed for him at Kew in the AIR50 series as they would have his OTU listed. At £3.30 each, probably worth a shot: http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...o.+56+Squadron

Or get his, if he filled one out, liberation questionnaire in WO208 series at Kew. These aren't online but would have his address and date of birth.

Regards,

Dave
