Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
Does anyone know if Herr Radtke, author of Kampfgeschwader 54, is still alive and if so would anyone by chance have contact information.
Many thanks Jeremy |
Re: Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
I was in touch with him many years ago.
I think that he passed away some years ago because his name disappeared from the list of the Traditionsverbaende published in the second page of the LUFTWAFFEN-REVUE. Gianandrea |

Hello,
according to Jaegerblatt 03/2001: Siegfried Radke, *30.09.19, +10.05.01. Best wishes, Karl |
Re: Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
Karl,
thank you very much for the information. Unluckily, Siegfried Radtke couldn't finish his second book, the history of the Kampfgruppe 806 (then III./KG 54). He was working at this book when I was in touch with him in the nineties. Gianandrea |
Re: Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
Thanks Karl/Gianandrea,
Just out of curiousity did and/or has anyone compiled the information Radtke was putting together on Kampfgruppe 806 at the time of his death with the idea of completing the work? Cheers Jeremy |
Re: Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
Quick question....I've just acquired this fabulous book to help research my Great Uncle and I am curious as to whether Radtke was aircrew who flew for KG54? My German is very limited and I couldn't see any mention of him in the personnel, but he signs off his intro as 'Hauptmann'. I've googled him but the only references I found were to his book and I found no reference at the Luftwaffe career summaries. Cheers!

Uffz Siegfried Radtke was a Beobachter in 9./KG54. He was wounded June 5th 1943 when he baled out of Ju 88 B3+CT WNr 142481. There is a photo of him in his book on page 186.

Re: Radtke, Siegfried: Kampfgeschwader 54
Thanks Rudi,
I assume the photo you mean is the crews sitting around a table and "Der Verfasser" means author?! It may interest someone, or not of course, but my book is inscribed 'Dr Alois Fritsch' and I found an entry for 3/1/43 5/54 Ju88 BS Alois Frisch (same guy I assume?) vermisst. The book talks about P40s for this loss (I think). Thanks for the info on Radtke in June 43, very interesting indeed and I really think I need to learn German....as I am half Austrian I have no excuse! Two pages away on 4/8/43 is my Great Uncle's (Karl Frass) entry....maybe he knew Radtke, never know I guess. But funny the same, the author, my Great Uncle and the original owner of my book were all in JU88 crashes with KG54 within 7 months of each other. |
