Re: Bf 109E-3 WNr.1377
I don't have anything on its operational use, only its fate:
Bf 109E-3 WNr.1377 of the Erg.JGr.Süd Ltn. Oskar Kreiger was killed 19-Aug-1942 in crash at Fl.Pl. Griesheim due to pilot error. GRM |
Re: Info needed on Me109 E W. Nr. 1377
okey dokey...
Well...the tail was pulled up by some fisherman (it was stuck in their net) a few years ago (I do not know if it was from a lake or an ocean/sea). annnnnnnnnd...it has bullet holes in it. Possible the info is incorrect? The werk number is clearly stamped into the tail gear, which was common practice on the Me109 E... Thoughts? |

And it is not the part Werk number of the tail gear (Spornrad)?
Do you got photos? |
Re: Info needed on Me109 E W. Nr. 1377
No, the Me109E had the main werk stamped into both the MAIN gear legs, as well as the Tail Gear Fork
This was common practice, and confirmed by numerous UK Wrecks. They stopped doing this practice in the F-K (probably because they were going through so many gear legs)...and then added the triangular steel plate at the back of the fuselage in it's place. |
