Hello,

According to the Operations Record Book 274 Squadron:

Unhappily F/O C. Day was seen to be in trouble, with flames from the engine. he could not be contacted on the R/T but was watched making a forced landing at C 2777, rather heavily so that the engine fell out, and nothing more is known of him.

Regards,
Hans

Good evening !

Your a/c in question came down at Bisperode, probaly close to the road "Harderoog" or to the vincinity "Haus Harderoge near Bisperode-Hameln" at about 13:30 hrs this day.

The incident was well documented in the German Luftgaukommando-Reports for this day, filed as # J 3045 and 132266/74, which are today available at the National Archives of the United States.

It must have been this a/c, since both documents mention the a/c's Serial as EJ687.

Best wishes !"

Horst Weber
