Walter Oesau

Hi there!

Does "Gulle" - Oesau's nickname - mean anything?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Walter Oesau

could it be Gülle?

– The_Fritz Jun 27 '12

I don't what you think, but if your nickname was "shit" you'd probably not have appreciated!

You have to know how germans use swear words.

Chris,

the word/name Gulle has no meaning, it's just a nick name that came about somehow; since we cannot ask Oesau's family or friends any longer, I'm afraid it will remain a mystery.

I do not buy the Gülle / dung theory at all. To the contrary, I find it rather devious and unrealistic.

I share the same opinion.
Thank you.

The military : lots of people, lots of names to remember, same suits, how to ID an individual?
Imagine I am one the mob, and when asked my opinion on a subject or another I use frequently an expletive related to manure from male cattle.
Guess what nickname I'm going to earn ?

Well of COURSE you know I'm gonna respond. Ha.

It may also be a huge play on words - Oesau is close in French to "Oiseau" or "Bird"

In actuality, though, it is from an old Northern German story for kids. Gulle and Ille. Search around the forums here and you'll find it. I'd start around 2006 and go from there.

Edit: I'll spare you the search.
