Hi,
I'm looking for more information of this radar station WW2 in Nieuwerkerken (Limburg)
In the near of the Airbase St. Trond, home of the Ghost of Sint-Truiden.
NJG I and NJG II
Defense of the Kammerhuber Line

Hi Luc

As SES mention, the radarsite must be 'Lurch' which on the 1st of August 1944 was manned by 17./Ln.Rgt. 211 (formerly 34/223).

Kompaniechef and 1st Jagdleitoffizier was Oberleutnant Kotsch, Lt Kraus was 2
nd ILO and Ofw Henne was 3rd ILO. Gerätezugführer was Feldwebel Lenk.

I can confirm from BA-MA documents that Lurch was operated by 17.(Flugm.Leit)/Ln.-Rgt. 211 and was operational on 1 April 1943 as Stellung (site) Nr. 125 bei St.-Trond/Belg.

Thanks to all the reply, but the radar site must be in Nieuwerkerken.
I lived almost 14 years in the village.
I saw already the remains, and found some minor info...
It was only about 1 year operational:

• 6 Bertha (the code Bertha was temporary)
Ligging: Sint-Truiden (Nieuwerkerken)
Eenheid: 15de FlugmeldeLeitKp en IV./LnRgt 201 vanaf 20 mei 1943 – augustus 1944
Opdracht: Funkmeßstellung in Nachtjagdraum 6
Uitrusting:
I'm looking for the different materials (radars) there?
The remains have different shapes
I will try to post some pictures.

It had several remains of concrete positions.
Some I can not recognize (Radar, FLaK, Lights ...)

I'm looking for some extra information about, searchlight, FLaK positions.
I found the remaining of the WR radar, concrete rests

Hello Luc (and fellow researchers),

I am sorry to tell that LURCH was not the radar station at Nieuwerkerken/Belgium but a radarstation near Xhendremael with radars and Auswertung combined in one compound southwest of Liege/Luik, hence the codename LURCH. This station was manned by the 17./Ln.Rgt.211 indeed.

The radarstation at Nieuwerkerken was one of 3 radarstations in the former Kammhuber searchlight belt (Kammhuber Line) and called 6B (or '6 Berta'). 'Grossraum 6' - consisting of Helle (searchlight) and Dunkle (radar guided) Nachtjagd boxes - was established from at least the 'old' searchlight boxes 9C, 10A, 10B, 10C and 11A. Whereas the Gerätestellung (with 2 Würzburg-Riesen and 1 Freya) was errected just in front of the searchlight belt, the Auswertestellung was more or less a modified commandpost of a Flakscheinwerfer Abteilung and therefore more centrally positioned in the searchlight belt. The distance between the radars and command post ranges from 10-14 kilometers.

Whereas radarstation 6A (near Meeuwen-Gruitrode, 14./Ln.Rgt.211) was renamed in KÜKEN in the autumn of 1943, 6B (manned by 15./Ln.Rgt.211) was dismantled. 6C, manned by 16./Ln.Rgt.211 was renamed in GLÜCKE.
