Russian female pilot Olga Lisikova
 

Hi guys

Olga Lisikova was flying U-2 ambulance aircraft in late 1941. Apparently she was forced to crash-land at Verebye airfield near Borovichi when attacked by a Bf109, which itself crashed near the Msta river with the loss of the pilot. Probably October 1941.

Can anyone throw more light on this incident, please? Actual date? Identity of Messerschmitt pilot?

Not this one, but a similar story: Nina Arkadevna Altsibeeva (гв.c-a Алцибеева Нина Аркадьевна, 1915-), female pilot flew Po-2 №5666 (engine: №8173) on December 18, 1944 and tried to pick up the crew of a belly landed IL-2 near Sárbogárd, Hungary, when a pair of Fw 190s attacked her at low altitude and downed. She landed on the trees of a forest and got injured, but survived the crash. Belonged to Stab./306 ShAD, 17th Air Army, 3rd Ukrainian Front.

Any Po-2 claim matching this event?

How about an event listed by the Germans as taking place the previous day:

17.12.44/1325, Oblt. Hans-Gottfried Schulz of 2/SG 10 claimed a Po-2 over PQ 7743 at low altitude.

Could the date by one side be in error and the claim refer to the loss?

Hi Nick,
I think it must be another Po-2 on December 17, 1944: Po-2 of 96 OKRAP, 17 VA, 3rd Ukrainian Front, S/N: 7242, engine: 12833, piloted by Grogorii Semenovich Matveichenko (л-т Матвейченко Григорий Семенович) downed at 15:05 (Moscow time, so 13:05 local, which means only 20 mins. difference!!!) at the altitude of 30-50 m. Plane crashlanded, Matveichenko was unhurt, plane was downed by 4 Fw 190s.

(The other Po-2 "loss" on December 17, 1944 in Hungary was Po-2 №4812 of 5 VA, 511 ORAP, 2nd Ukrainian Front. It was scrapped and handed over to 10 ПАМ for spare parts.)

So Nina's Po-2 №5666 on December 18, 1944 is still unsolved.

Oh well. It was certainly worth asking, because errors in date have come up before. Thanks for putting us straight on Schulz's claim in any case
