A new (?) photo of late war 109 and 190

Rémi, thanks for your find.
The Bf 109's W.Nr. seem to be 783925, which then is a Mtt built Bf 109 G-14. The paint scheme seen on the rear fuselage is typical for this producer. As for the location, it is quite characteristic; could it be Wunstorf ? Cheers Marc |

Yes, this is a standard wooden tail unit with stencilled green dots on gray background. This would usually fit with the standard late camo scheme used for the Bf109K-4 e.g. The swastika was a decal imo, a black and white version. Look at the free space for this marking.
There were also tail units produced with standard mottling green/gray on RLM 76 background and all-black swastika intended for the standard mottled camo scheme for Bf109 fuselages. The distribution system for late Bf109 tail units seems to have broken down so this tail unit was partially adjusted with an overspray of RLM 76. Messerschmitt seems to somehow inconsequent concerning the application of the late camo system which led to such hybrid schemes. Erla was far more strict - just watch the only Erla Bf109K-4 and late Erla Bf109G-10s. Regards RolandF |
