Bodenplatte victim Fw190-D9, 600161

Hi readers,

On January 1 1945 Blaue 2, 600161 of 7./JG 26, a Fw190-D9, crashed south of the tiny village Molenschot (west of Fliegerhorst Gilze-Rijen) in The Netherlands. The pilot, H.K. Götz parachuted and survived.

Anyone with more details? Was he shot down by AA or in an air2air (dogfight)? Is there more detailed information about the location? When it was south of Molenschot it might have been near the German Camp Prinsenbosch, located in the woods between Gilze and Chaam.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Benno (from Molenschot)

Hi Benno,
I don't know if you are familiar with John Manhro's book "Bodenplatte"?
Answers and details about the 1 january mission can be found in his book.
Kind regards,
Dirk

According to John's book, Gefr Hans-Karl Koch was hit by Flak on the way out and after strafing Evere, his engine caught fire. Apparently he landed on the airfield. Nothing more I'm afraid
