There is an article on I./JG 2 in Italy here http://www.ghostbombers.com/JG2/jg2intro.html

11.(Höh.)/JG2: Formed 7.42 in St. Pol from 1./JG2. Disbanded 1.2.43 and was absorbed by JG53. Reformed 10.12.42 in Beaumont-le-Roger and was attached to I./JG2. On 21.9.43 redesignated 4./JG2. Equipped with the Bf 109 G-3, G-4 and eventually G-6 aircraft.

Rémi,

take a look at the Flugzeugbewegungsmeldungen and you will see that during the time I./JG 2 was in Italy, i.e. February to April 1944, they had a number of Bf109G-3 and G-6 on strength, which belonged to 4./JG 2 as Sidney pointed out. They were handed down in April 1944 after which time I./JG 2 was solely equipped with the Fw190.

Hope that helps

Best

Jochen

Ok, many thks, so it's clearing the movements of Bf109 in Italy, some returning to France .., that brits suspect to be from the JG2, merci Ultra !

Regarding, Ultra, Jochen, you probably know, that it exists 700+ files, with each hundreds of pages, I could hand-over one complete file at least, you could see , what the content is , nd judge if necessary for you spend hours to work them .

But not until Erik's JG 2 series reaches 1944!
