Hello and help tracking a downed BF109

Firstly hello and thanks for enabling my account.

I have a query about a downed BF109 - a little background history!

When I was about 10 or so (1980) I used to spend time at my grandparents and their next door neighbour whom I always called Uncle - but was not a relative - used to talk to me about his days in the Fire Service in the War.
He gave me a few things and I've recently come across them.
Sadly my 'Uncle' is now deceased.

The story was that he dealt with a downed German plane during the war and he was given the pilots ring by the pilot who survived.

So hopefully if I've done this right there should be some photographs below.

Firstly his NFS cloth badge. Which looking at the NFS records Number 16 Company were based in Lyndhurst Hampshire

Second is the number of the plane that he took off the aircraft. Apologies if the photo isn't sharp.

I can make out the following: BF109 E WerkNr. 751 (This looks incomplete)
Baujahr 39

And third image is of the ring. It's either bone or Mother Of Pearl (i think)

So would like to know if the pilot did survive as he said and if it is at all possible for me to research into the pilots family.

Thank you in advance

Without the full werk, it will probably be impossible.

We would have to know the location.

Hi

Interesting that the small data plate states Arado ( Would this not indicate that this aircraft was made by Arado under licence and not Erla?) and could perhaps it be first part of a four digit number?? (although there isn't much info on 109E's with werk nr's as high as that 751X)

The excellent book the Battle of Britain then and now states 0751 as being a Bf109E-4 shot down 7.10.40 and crashed at Oak farm Headcorn. Burnt Out. From what I believe little was found of this aircraft but burnt aluminium clumps, when excavated in the 70's.

Also this plate is very likely one of the small ID plate often attached to larger components like tail plane etc. It is not the main data plate of the aircraft as it is too small for an E model.

Best Regards

OK thanks for the info :)
Have the Battle Of Britain book on its way to me.

Times like this I'm annoyed at not asking him any more questions.

Headcorn is nowhere near Lyndhurst where it would appear NFS 16 was based? The only 109 to come down in this area was a Bf 109 E-1 Wk Nr 3279 of 4/JG 2 on 15 October 1940?

According to my sources Arado did not produce Bf109s of the WNr 7500 or 700 range but from the 5559 -6000 block. Is this really the digit "7" or a maybe a letter "Z" for instance?

Or the plate is a fake, or really Arado produce the 751 !!!
