94 FS 6 Sep 42
On the afternoon of the above date, two P-38s were scrambled from Ibsley to intercept a Ju 86 over southern England (the Sqn's first operational sortie of the war). The German pilot records them attacking vertically before falling away due to the target being at 42,000'. Has anyone got any record of this combat from the American side? It is mentioned in 'The Mighty Eighth" but that is all

1/Lt Lewis C Murdock. Other pilot got lost & suffered radio failure & RTB. He survived the war & passed away 31 Dec 2000
