28 June 1944 (LW loss in Belgium)

Hello,

Daniel's recent post reminds me my former query is still (and would remain?) unanswered:

Following an 'Underground' statment, a FW 190 (as said) crashed 2 km SSW of Nivelles (Belgium), with pilot killed, on the 28th June 1944. There was a bull head (?) art on the wreckage.

I am still unable to ID this aircraft, perhaps lost during a transfer flight to the front?

However this loss fits perfectly 1Lt. Robert E. Miles claim of a Bf 109 near Nivelles at 0758 this very day. By the way, I was not able to find his PER (and 20VCB/28-1), if someone could help...

Frappé quotes possibly Ogfr. Karl HÖPPNER (3./JG 5) missing in Arras area when messing with P-38. Arras is about 115 km from Nivelles.

So I will take this last hypothesis, hoping someone will bring the last word on this 'cold' case.

Thanks for your attention and sorry for this re-post.

Best regards

Hello,

There are a lot of losses of J.G. 26, 27 and 3 with unknown locations that day.
