Identity first Nachtjagd Abschuss against Red Air Force on 20-21 October 1941 nr. Berlin?
Dear all,
For the NJWD 2nd ed, I have not been able to identify the first Nachtjagd Abschuss against the Soviet Air Force; I can provide the following details: 20-21 October 1941 Oblt. Rudolf Altendorf: 9 2./NJG3 2-Mot nr. Marzahn, E. Berlin +/- 22.15 The victory was shared with Berlin-based Flak -who has any information about the identity of the Red Air Force aircraft that was shot down by Altendorf? Cheers, Theo |

Hi Theo,
I think it was surmised a while back that this might have been a Wellington, R1046/KX-E of 311 sqn. Sgt. V F E Prochazka and crew all POW Nick |

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply, but the Altendorf claim was definitely Ostfront. A few years back I received copies of all of Altendorf's Abschssmeldungen & Gefechtsberichte, and one of these reads (in Altendorf's Original handwriting): 10. Abschuss. "2 mot russischer Bomber", am 20.10.1941 bei Marzahn, östl. Berlin, etwa 22.15 Uhr. Beteiligung der Flakdivision Berlin. It would be really interesting to see if a matching Red Air Foce loss can be found to this claim! Cheers, Theo |

Fair call.
In the words of Private Baldrick: "I'll have a rummage around and see what I can find..." No promises mind you... Nick |
