accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
On 22.12.1943 had Jolf Bielefeld from FlüG1 an accident in Regensburg with Fw 190, V_+UT, with 35% damage.
Is there known from GQM: a.) the complete sign, W.Nr. and/or the squadron of the pilot? Many thanks in advance Rasmussen |
Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
Hello Rasmussen,

Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
Excuse my curiosity :)
But why was a Fw 190 being ferried to/from Regensburg? Was it just some kind of stop over? Cheers Stig PS: Was the pilots first name really Jolf? To me Rolf sounds more likely, but I am no expert on German given names. Typo? |
Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
@Stig
I'd say it was an stop over. The a/c was flown from Marienburg to Großenhain and from there to Regensburg where it landed in a small gravel pit (35 %). On the copy of the second logbook was written "Jolf" (IIRC). It's an very rarely first name but he exist. @RT Thanks for your kind answer, very helpful. Is the unit mentioned? In the logbook is clear to read "...+UT" not "...+US". Greetings Rasmussen |
Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
Name is Jolf, no doubt, well known, Einflieger/Überführer pilot, fame coming from the fact we hv lot of his Log-books, probably he stopped in Regensburg, in route to Italy where most probably the plane would hv been delivered to SG4, lot of losses on the 1604xx range in 1944 with this unit , occassionaly one or two G-3 found their way in the fighter units

Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
I know about the STKZ, only in the GQM return 476 is filled, nd later manually changed to 475, ...
Unit, but no Staffel given, Fl.üG1, usually they transit in Erding, so Bielefeld flew till Erding, nd then an other pilots of the OBS deliver planes to front units. In january 44, VG+UR/UV/UZ were flown to Viterbo, with multiple stops in Italy, Piacenza,Vicenza, Osoppo,...dont know why about all these stops, tactical, ??? Rémi Hv you seen may message?? |
Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
No spurs found later for these two, UT/476 or US/475

...could be the son. You never learn enough, Stig ;) Interesting would be the exact landing ground of "Jolf": Regensburg-Prüfening or Regensburg-Obertraubling Prüfening imo would point to a more private character of his stop (maybe christmas-shopping for his girlfriend in Italy ;)), because airfield and production site (rather close to the city) were destroyed in summer '43. Obertraubling would be the new Messerschmitt production site but completely in the outskirts of Regensburg. Any differentiation in the Flugbuch? Regards RolandF |
Re: accident 22.12.1943 Regensburg
He, he Roland :)
Yes I admit you are ever so right. I did a rather rudimentary Google search and basically came up with nothing, so Jolf must indeed be a very rare name even in Germany. Son? Who knows.... Thanks also for bringing in the human touch in the midst of our 'number game'. Never forget there always is a very basic human background to us all, regardless of experiences.... Cheers Stig |
