Folks, trying to establish the identity of the 109 and its pilot that crashed around 2pm on 30 September 1940 over the Ashdown Forest East Sussex following an engagement with No.46 squadron. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Re: BF.109 pilot and aircraft identity sought
srob48. Many thanks for your reply and I apologise for my belated. Been to NZ and therefore 'distracted". I really appreciate the information that you have provided and it is greatly assisting my further research into an Australian pilot. Can you advise if there are any photographs of either the pilot or this aircraft. I know that this is a long shot however I am constantly amazed of how often photographs of such obscure incidents appear on various forae. Is there any way of obtaining any further data on this pilot or the incident, ie squadron records if such are available or the pilots personal history? Again, my great thanks for this data. It has really helped. I am a real neophyte here and am blundering around quite a lot in the dark so to speak.

Thank you for that further information. This all relates to the history of the Hurricane shot down at the same time. All background. It always amazes me what's out there.
