Apparently, the complaints include a lack of maps and photos, but I had not heard of Operation K.

Operation K isn't altogether unknown, even Mor(r)ison probably mentioned it. IIRC a few H8K Emily flying boats tried a combined bombing/recon mission over Pearl Harbor, refuelling en route from a sub at French Frigate Shoals. Clouds over PH spoiled the op.
