Loss of Halifax JB974 on 22.10.1943
2 Attachment(s)
Dear All !
Does somebody have more on the circumstances of the following RAF 10 Sqn loss?: 22.-23.10.1943 Mission: Kassel Halifax 10 Sqn Serial JB974 Code ZA-T Pilot: Wilkinson, Herbert Henry Vincent Crash site: 58099 Hagen-Helfe, Germany I have a letter of my grandmother stating to have watched supposedly a german nightfighter to have downed an allied bomber on that given night over her small village west to Hamm at industrial 'Ruhr district' with the allied bomber "crashing far to the south", which could be the crew above that crashed at Hagen-Helfe. Does somebody particularly have the german KE reports on JB974 or any other infos on that crash (I have crew names and a crash site photo from a website). Strangely Hamm and Hagen were not really on the planned mission track in/out of this RAF bomber mission ! thanks to everybody, FrankieS |

Re: Loss of Halifax JB974 on 22.10.1943
Hi FrankieS,
Hope this helps, it's the Flak claims details for this aircraft, I have no NJ claim that could be tied to the loss: 10 Sqn Halifax JB974: hit by 1. & 4./schw. Flak Abt. 226, 5736 and 5737, crashed at Helfe (Hagen) at 20.47 hrs. Can you let me know where you got the crash photo from? Cheers, Theo |
