Attack on Folkestone
1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know more details about the attack on Folkestone, Kent by Focke-Wulf Fw190s. My Father found the newspaper article in his Fathers belongings. Major Hounsell was my Great-grandfather. My Father thinks their house was in Grange Road, Folkestone (But isn't positive). Unfortunately there is no date on the Newspaper, but thinks it could be around 1942.

Re: Attack on Folkestone
Thanks Chris, but your book for that raid states "only one bomb fell on land - into the swimming pool in Folkestone". According to the newspaper article several bombs were dropped, one fell on the main road, another on the golf course, and others bombs on open ground or in the sea. Also, the newspaper article says the raid was broken up by a spectacular barrage and doesn't mention 91 Squadron Spitfires.

Re: Attack on Folkestone
If it is a T&R raid it will be in the book. However the mention of 'brilliant moonlight' would indicate it was a night attack which should be listed in my other book on the nocturnal attacks by I/SKG 10 and a quick look shows that there were a number
