Are you sure your not thinking of Chuck Yeager? I don't think Bud Anderson was ever shot down. Bob

I just looked over his site real quick I didn't see anything on it. I'll look again later. I have read his Biography"To fly and Fight" and have written him, but I have never heard of him being shot down. His last combat flight in the ETO has been written about many times. Yeager and Anderson went off on thier own for a "tour " of Europe. They did land back at Leiston together. Bob

According to his bio (p. 164/165) Jan 14th 1945 was his last combat sortie, together with Chuck Yeager. They got separated from the group and got home last without any kills, whereas the Group claimed 50 - it having been a very active day.

Must be mixing up something Brian.

Brian - Bud was never shot down. His Wingman and close friend Jim Browning was shot down KIA. Bud named his son after Jim.

Hi guys

Apologies all round! I'd buy you all drinks but ...........!

I was looking at http:/www.cebudanderson.com/jerome03.htm - and assumed the story related to Bud Anderson, whereas I now realise (having reached the end of the lengthy account) that the person involved was Lt Jerome Jacobs, who was shot down and made POW on 19 September 1944. Rather confusing but I admit I was wrong!

Cheers for your response

Brian
